Negombo Fort Ground's Carnival - කානිවල් නම් ඉතින් මීගමුව කොටුව පිට්ටනිය තමයි.

ඉස්සර නත්තල් කාලේ වෙද්දී මීගමුව කොටුව පිට්ටනියේ කානිවල් දානවා. රෑ එළිවෙනකම් සංගීත සංදර්ශන. නත්තල් කාලෙට විතරක් නෙමේ අවුරුද්දේ කිහිප සැරයක්ම ඔය පිට්ටනියේ විවිධ සැණකෙළි, සංගීත සංදර්ශන තියෙනවා. ඒ වගේම විවිධ පුද්ගලයෝ විවිධ වාර්තා තියන්න විවිධ දේවල් කලා ඔතන. වරක් ගිනස් වාර්ථාවක් තියන්න මිනිහෙක් ඔතන නොනවත්වා නැටුවා. මිනිස්සු සල්ලි කොළ අමුණලා මාල හදලා ඒ මිනිහට ගෙනත් දැම්මා. පාසල්වල නිවාස අන්තර ක්‍රීඩා උළෙලවල් විතරක් නෙමේ පාසැල් ළමුන් ක්‍රීඩා පුහුණුවුණේත් මේ කොටුව පිට්ටනියේ. නිදහස් දින සමරු උත්සව තිබ්බෙත් ඔතන. ජුබිටර්ස්, යුත් පාපන්දු කණ්ඩායම් පාපන්දු පුහුණුවුනෙත් ඔතන.

මේ කොටුව පට්ටනිය ක්‍රීඩා පිටියේ තිබුන මණ්ඩපයේ කාලයක් කිසිම නඩත්තුවක් නැතිව තිබිලා දැන් වහල බිමටම කඩාවැටිලා. පිට්ටනියේ තණකොළ කපන්නේත් නැහැ. සර්පයෝ ඉන්නත් පුළුවන් කියලා ළමයි සෙල්ලම් කරන්න එන්නෙත් බයෙන්.

කෝ මේ ලන්සලා? කෝ මේ මීගමුවේ නගරාධිපති දයාන් ලන්සා? අර දවසකට එක වැඩක් කිය කිය facebook එකේ පොටෝ දාගෙන මීගමුව හදනවා කිය කිය හිටිය දයාන් ලන්සා කෝ? මීගමුවේ මහා කතෝලිකයා තමන් යැයි කිය කිය ගිය නිමල් ලන්සා කෝ? මීගමුවෙන් චන්ද ගන්න සුදර්ශනීලා, ප්‍රසන්නලා කෝ? මීගමුව එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂයේ නව සංවිධායක පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී කාවින්ද තවම මේක දැක්කේ නැද්ද? මීගමුව නගර සභාව මේ ගැන මොකද කරන්නේ? ඈත ඉන්න අපිට පේන දේවල් ලග ඉන්න ඔයාලට පෙන්නේ නැද්ද? නැතිනම් උවමනාවක් නැද්ද?

මතක තියාගන්න, මීගමුව කැඩිලා බිදිලා, විනාශවෙලා යනවා දකින්න ඕනෑ තරම් මිනිස්සු ඉන්නවා එත් එක රැකගන්න ඉන්නේ කිහිපදෙනයි. ඒ නිසා ඒ ටිකවත් එකතුවෙලා, ඔය සමාගමකින් ආධාරයක් හරි අරන් ඕක හදන්න කටයුතු කරන්න. 

Long ago, this ground was famous for carnivals, funfairs and musical shows not only at Christmas time but throughout the year. People said there was no carnival better than Negombo Fort Ground's Carnival.

It was a playground for many kids, many sports and many inter-school sports competitions and sports meetings. It was the home ground to St. Mary's College, Newstead Girls College, Jupiters and Youth Football clubs of Negombo. I remember once a man tried to get the Guinness World Record of non-stop dancing. People rewarded him with a necklace of money.

That was exactly on this pavilion. Now due to the neglections, it's run down and the roof has fallen.

Where is our Mayor, Dayan Lanza? Can't he see this? Don't they want to repair it? Where is the MP, Nimal Lanza? And the new UNP organiser, Kavinda Jayawardena? And the other MPs who got the votes from Negombo? What about our Municipal Council? What are they going to do about it?

Please don't let the heritage of our glorious city of Negombo fall apart. We know many people who want to see that happen. Please don't allow them to succeed.

Let's join together and demand to keep our Negombo a safe, beautiful and glorious place again. Try to draw the attention of everybody to repair and restore this memorable pavilion and the Negombo Fort Ground.
